News Quantel announces new Jo and Ed broadcast editing products (25/4/2008) The best editors and the best workflow - a winning proposition for broadcasters Quantel announced Jo and Ed - two new broadcast editors for its Enterprise sQ and Newsbox HD integrated production systems, as part of the Quattro software release. These new editors provide a more cost-effective replacement for the previous range of six editors. Jo and Ed stand out from the world of commodity editors - they have the best interface and toolset in the business for editing fast turnaround news. Jo and Ed cover every potential editing need, providing just the right tools and interface for every task and skill level. Jo and Ed are based on Quantel's award-winning user interface, designed to be fast and easy to use. Both products bring fully transparent, SD and HD production capabilities to every user. Jo is the journalist editor. Jo is fully configurable to individual requirements, whether for viewing, shot selection, rough-cutting or complete desktop packaging. Jo is adapted to work inside Newsroom Computer systems; editing, scripting and control from a single interface. Ed is the craft editor, fully loaded with the new multi-layer timeline and complete Quantel production toolset. Ed has a choice of platforms: PC or Quantel hardware, for extra performance. "Quantel has always recognised that workflow is the key to success in the integrated digital newsroom," said Trevor Francis, Quantel's Marketing Manager for Broadcast. "Today, the business of broadcasting requires professionals to add value to content, wherever it comes from, and to market that content on every outlet and platform. Jo and Ed make that task supremely simple and fast, bringing the power of Quantel's workflow to every user."
